WENRA is on track with the implementation of the 2014 Safety Reference Levels. This was one of the issues discussed during the WENRA fall plenary meeting 2017
The meeting was held in The Hague on 26-27 October 2017, hosted by the Dutch Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ANVS). During the meeting, WENRA reviewed the follow-up on the implementation of the 2013 WENRA Recommendation regarding flaw indications found in Belgian reactors. It was reported that the implementation is completed in many countries. Checks of manufacturing records have been finalised and further inspections have been carried out. The final report will be soon published on WENRA’s website.
The Working Group on Waste and Decommissioning WGWD has finished its work on the Waste Processing Report, which will be published on WENRA’s website shortly. WGWD will now focus on benchmarking the remaining disposal and the processing self-assessments. The Reactor Harmonisation Working Group RHWG will elaborate various technical bases for the benchmarking of the implementation of the Vienna Declaration on Nuclear Safety VDNS. WENRA also approved the work carried out so far by its Task Force on Safety and Security Interfaces.
Finally, WENRA discussed various regulatory and technical issues and challenges that its members faced: These included results of international peer review missions hosted in various WENRA countries as well as the status of several backfitting projects
