WENRA Guidance on Article 8a of the Nuclear Safety Directive - Draft for Public Consultation

Posted March 29, 2017, 8:15 a.m.

The ENSREG meeting (24th November 2015) discussed the implementation of Art 8a of the Nuclear Safety Directive and invited WENRA to provide guidance on the question of “timely implementation of reasonably practicable safety improvements to existing nuclear power plants”.  A WENRA Ad-Hoc Group was established in April 2016 to bring forward a guidance paper on the “timely implementation of reasonably practicable safety improvements to existing nuclear power plants” (Article 8 a).  The UK agreed to Chair the group with members from Finland, Germany, France, Hungary and Switzerland.  It was agreed the guidance should be finalised prior to the implementation date for the Nuclear Safety Directive in August 2017.

Following review by WENRA, ENSREG, European Commission and ENISS the guidance paper is now open for stakeholder comments.  Any comments received before 14 April 2017 will be discussed and considered by the group when preparing the final version of the report for approval by WENRA and ENSREG.

Please use either the comments-tool of the WENRA-homepage (preferably for shorter / single comments) or send your comments including any appended files directly to the Ad Hoc Group member  stephen.harrison@onr.gov.uk or the WENRA technical secretariat gisela.stoppa@bmub.bund.de.
